Bien que décrit comme un voyage historique, Evoland n'est qu'un trip nostalgique. Malgré de gros efforts sur les parties visuelles et musicales, le titre ne parvient pas à décoller à cause d'une absence d/enjeux et de mécaniques de gameplay réduites à leur plus simple expression. A dix euros, ça fait cher l'après-midi de jeu à se souvenir du "bon vieux temps".
